I finally have seen Mt. Fuji, and it definitely lives up to the hype. It’s interesting to see such a large mountain all on its own, and without other mountins right next to it.
It’s no wonder that the people of Japan worshiped this mountain, looming over so many parts of the country. I learned you can even see it from many of the other regions of Japan. In ancient times, when it was still errupting, and many of those regions were covered in ash, it is no wonder why they worshiped what they saw as such a powerful god.
I was able to visit a shrine that was dedicated to the worship of the mountain, which was equally enjoyable. It’s a shame that so many buildings now block the view of the mountain now-you cannot see it except from high up several stories. Still, I feel like seeing the Mt. Fuji, even from far away, completed me somehow.
