Australia: Blue Mountains

A few hours from Sydney are the Blue Mountains. They appear blue from a distance because they are eucalyptus trees (or gum trees as they call them here) and the oil from the trees makes them appear blue.

On our way up, we stopped at a Wildlife Park in Featherdale which started as an animal rescue site. There were so many animals to see! I highlighted some of my favorites below. Forget kangaroos and wallabies. I was all about the qurokkas!

After that we went to a lookout spot to see the famous Three Sisters.

We got views of them again, though, walking through the rain forests in Scenic World. While there we rode a two gondolas, and a train car. The views were beautiful everywhere you looked.

We ended the day with a trip back to see the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge one last time, but at night.
